Moving out of the family home means having to deal with a slew of adult responsibilities, one of which is finding a suitable apartment within your budget. Considering that Monaco has plenty of properties for rent, it is unlikely that you will not find one that suits your tastes and financial needs.
While shopping, you may find yourself drawn to something a little less affordable. There are a few ways to go about this if you do find yourself in this situation, and one is renting it with another person.
Should you go for it or not? Well, there is no correct answer to this question. But here are some factors that would lead you to the decision of living alone.
Safety and Privacy Issues
If you are not going to be rooming with a friend or an acquaintance, isn’t the additional space worth it? Aside from increased safety, you will have more privacy, too. It can be argued that you will still have your own space in the bedroom even if you have a roommate, but having another person in the apartment means that you will not be able to do what you want to do all the time.
This can be a major concern for many people, especially if the primary reason you have decided to move out of your childhood home is to have more freedom and enjoy independence.
Added Liability
Better apartments usually mean larger spaces and higher rent — burdens to be shared with others if your finances cannot handle it alone. An advantage to having a roommate is that they can provide you with much-needed help. However, there are also drawbacks to this since roommates come in all shapes and forms.
It is possible that you will get lucky and land a roommate who is both clean when it comes to their space as they are responsible. The opposite is highly possible too, though. Someone who leaves a mess, does not clean up after themselves, and pays no heed to the chart for shared chores. Worse, someone who has trouble getting the money for rent on time.
Confrontations are inevitable if you find yourself in this kind of situation. After all, they are causing troubles to not only themselves but you as well. This is something that you can well avoid by choosing an apartment well within your budget.
Potential Drama
Just as you can have a nightmare of a roommate, you can have an exceptional one as well. Someone who will do their chores without prompting and pays their half of the bills on time. This is a dream come true, but it may be the little things that can get to you.
People have discernible personalities, tics, and habits, and not all of them are pleasant. Chattiness, nosiness, and lack of boundaries may be what you have in store if you choose to room with someone. They are inconsequential in the grand scheme but can cause discomfort.
You have the right to be comfortable in your new home. And this can be snatched away by having to room with a person you are just not compatible with.
